The National Bureau of Statistics of China has surveyed a hundred Chinese economists on this year¡¯s China economic trend. The survey reveals that the economists expect six trends in China¡¯s economy as follows:
(1) Tremendous drop in export demand and favourable balance.
Of the one hundred economists surveyed, 92% expect a ¡°slower¡± growth in exports, while 71% expect a ¡°decrease in favourable balance¡± in the following six months.
(2) Slow growth in currency credits
Through 70% of the economists consider the current growth of fixed asset investment ¡°normal¡±, 49% consider the growth of current credits ¡°too slow¡±.
(3) Weaker consumer demand
¡¡¡¡ Forty-nine percent of the economists expect a ¡°weaker¡± consumer demand in the coming six months. Forty-two percent expect a ¡°stronger¡± consumer demand while 5% expect no change.
¡¡¡¡ (4) No inflation within two years
Among all the economists surveyed, 86% expects that the inflation rate in 2009 would ¡°drop¡±. They also anticipate that the average CPI would only be 2.5%.
(5) Stable stock prices and a slight fall in property prices
The survey found that economists who anticipate stock prices to ¡°rise¡± and ¡°become stable (or mildly fluctuate)¡± are of 24% and 59% respectively, while 89% think the property prices would be ¡°lower¡± compared with that in 2008.
(6) Stable RMB exchange rate
The survey also showed that 64% of the economists think the exchange rate of RMB (to USD) will be ¡°stable in general¡±.
